Family run B&B and Country Pub in Llanbister, Powys, Mid Wales.
Welcome to The Lion Hotel, a well-established, friendly country pub with bed and breakfast accommodation in Mid Wales.
Janet and Ray Thomas have been proprietors of The Lion Hotel for 20 years, but the pub has been in the village of Llanbister, near Llandrindod Wells, for over a century. The couple have retained some of the pub’s traditional Victorian features and décor, giving the building a distinct period feel. Guests staying at The Lion Hotel can feel as though they have stepped back into the late 19th century whilst enjoying all the comforts of modern living. The rooms are warm and cosy with fantastic views over the stunning Welsh countryside and the nearby River Ithon.
The location of The Lion Hotel makes it a fantastic Mid Wales bed and breakfast accommodation choice. Llanbister is a small, quiet village nestled in the beautiful Welsh countryside. However, it is also a superb base for those wishing to explore Mid Wales, with beauty spots like the Elan Valley nearby, as well as several fantastic walks, including the famous Glyndwr’s Way and Offa’s Dyke. The pub is also conveniently located for those visiting the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, which is held annually in Builth Wells, as well as being within easy reach of the market towns of Llandrindod Wells, Newtown, Rhayader, Presteigne and Knighton.
In addition to comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation amidst stunning landscapes, guests staying at The Lion Hotel are assured a warm welcome. There are three guest rooms available at the pub, giving it a cosy, intimate atmosphere. There is also a restaurant serving traditional pub food, the majority of which is homemade and locally sourced as far as possible.
Janet and Ray love welcoming guests to their hotel and helping them to get the most out of their holiday in Mid Wales.
They look forward to welcoming you into their home.

"Lovely location, peaceful and very welcoming excellent breakfast with local produce and everything you could imagine, rooms were 10/10. will stay there again" Tim 10/05/16
"A great find in a lovely area of the Welsh borders. Although we were only using the place as a brief stopover, we were made to feel like very welcome guests and given first rate service. The room was delightfully presented, cosy and had magnificent views of the river valley from two aspects. The price was more than fair, given the quality of the accommodation and food" Alvs 19/3/16
"This Hotel is a little gem. Everything was excellent: the welcome, the room, the views, the beer and the curry (the best I have ever had and I've tasted some good curries in Bradford and Birmingham)." David 28/07/15
" Everything, very friendly owners who were prepared to talk about the area, comfortable room with a view over their own backyard with gardens and chickens, and a good location for driving around the picturesque Valley" Graeme 25/6/15
